Description
The Blondheim twins, Charles and William, are riding in a float in the Tuscaloosa Centennial Parade on May 30, 1916. Their father, Phil W. Blondheim, drove the roadster decorated with flowers and festoons. The photograph was taken in front of the Governor's Mansion, now the University Club on Queen City Avenue at University Boulevard.
Blondheim came from Washington D.C., to Tuscaloosa and began working as a salesman for the firm of Friedman & Rosenau, continuing with them until April, 1895, when he opened his own store which grew nicely from its modest start. His business was located on Broad Street (now University Boulevard) between Market Street (now Greensboro Avenue) and Monroe Streets (now 21st Avenue).
