Description
Lt. William T.D. Ray was killed on April 6, 1945, while serving with the 937th Field Artillery Battalion in Germany. Lt. Ray was not a Tuscaloosa native, but had taught speech and debate at the University of Alabama prior to his service where he became the first former professor to be killed in the line of duty. Lt. Ray was the husband of Mrs. Wylene Clark Ray, now of Mobile.
