Description
Maj. Winston R. Maxwell died on January 14, 1945, while a prisoner-of-war under the Japanese. Maj. Maxwell had been captured at the Battle of Corridor. Maj. Maxwell was a Tuscaloosa native having attended local schools including the University of Alabama before he went to the United States Military Academy where he graduated in the class of 1930. For his service Maj. Maxwell was awarded the Purple Heart. Maj. Maxwell was the husband of Mrs. Phyllis Parmenter Maxwell. He was also the son of Mrs. Maude Rose Maxwell and the late Farley Maxwell.
