Description

Saint Paul United Methodist Church was the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on July 17, 1970.

"The Saint Paul United Methodist Church is located on the corner of 10th Street and 22nd Avenue. The congregation first worshiped in a little wooden structure for about twenty five years.

In 1920 the church was rebuilt at the same location. We now have a Membership of 236. Services are held every Sunday. The Church School meets at 9:30 A.M. for study. Worship services began at 10:55 A.M.

The Sunday School is organized. There are classes for all age levels, Children, Youth, Young Adults and Adults. The United Methodist Men meets monthly, on each 2nd Sunday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. They meet also on each 4th Sunday at 8:00 A.M. for breakfast and study. We have an organized United Methodist Youth Fellowship. The Women Society of Christian Services meets the last Friday in each month. The Prayer Circle meets every Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. The Administrative Board meets the first Monday of each month. We have two Choirs, Youth and Adult.

The Church is involved in many community activities. The one we take pride in is the project jointly sponsored by The Forest Lake United Methodist and The Saint Paul United Methodist Church: The Grace Street Community Center.

The present pastor, the Rev. Chester E. Brown, came to Saint Paul in May 1966. He is now in his fifth year as pastor. Under his leadership much has been accomplished.

We are in a building program and plan to relocate soon. The Church's commitment to it's Mission and Ministry in the world is measured by the quality of service she is rendering.

Here at Saint Paul we wish to serve as we should. The Members of this Church are dedicated people trying to be the Church in a confused broken world.

If you don't have a Church, we welcome you to Saint Paul."
