College Life

After returning from the war, Al DuPont attended Louisiana State University.  While still a student, DuPont got a summer job working for the Louisiana Highway Department.  This work provided him with real engineering experience.

Before receiving his degree from Louisiana  State, DuPont decided to move to Tuscaloosa to work on the decreasing water supply in the city.  DuPont received his engineering license while working on the water project.  DuPont completed his course work and earned an engineering degree at the University of Alabama.

He states that back then a graduate engineer received two hundred sixteen dollars a month but now engineers make more than that in a day.
